Color is Key
The number one statement that I hear is “I have no idea what I like…” and that can be a very overwhelming feeling. First things first. Color is key. Finding out what you do like and don’t like when it comes to color is the best spring board for nailing down your personal esthetic. Maybe you like color drenching with a wide pallet or simple whites, blacks, and grays will do. There is no wrong answer.

For the space in this picture, my husband wanted COLOR. We knew we wanted to pull in some of the color of our cabinets (Chris & Dicks) from our kitchen to tie these two spaces together. We had this blush pink couch in mind from West Elm and they blended so well. We kept pulling these two colors around the house too to make our spaces flow. Just little subtle things here and there can make a difference.
A neutral rug can also help balance so bold colors. Many of our rugs in our house are from Rugs USA and really hold up well against our kids. This large rug was $60 and they have sales all the time. To make a rug feel more comfy we like to add a thick rug pad. We get ours from
