Project: Steph - Creating a space that feels just right
This summer, I was able to help a friend transform the main floor of their townhome. She wanted a space that would help her family feel refreshed and, most importantly, a place they could cozy up after a long day. This was a project that involved a set budget, volunteers, donations, and love. Because of the budget, we wanted to also showcase how much you could find on Amazon, Target, and Wayfair to complete their space. You don’t have to spend a fortune to refresh your space and you can find them easily using these online and in person sources.

Hardware
Changing out her hardware in her kitchen and bathroom instantly made her cabinets look less modern and more rich. Like a lovely dark chocolate. Simple, but can change a whole vibe a kitchen.
Found these on Amazon for a great deal! Click HERE for the link!
Paint, Lights, Windows…Action!
This was probably the most important and drastic change to the space. All of her surfaces had the same color of paint and it was not a good one. Just an odd gray mud color. It didn’t feel bright or fresh. So we went with painting the wall Rock Candy by Sherman Williams and the ceiling and the baseboards a bright white. The result was perfect. It looked like a whole new house!
I moved the window treatments higher and out to help create the illusion of more space and to let more light in. We were shocked how lovely these Amazon Curtains turned out! I may have to get some for our home too! they feel and look expense without needing to be.
The tree, candelabra, and remote battery candles are from Target
The kitchen table is one she already owned and these beautiful and sturdy Farmhouse Chairs are from Amazon. I also found a two pack of the Gold Curtain Rods on Amazon.
Counter Tops
I swapped out the wood composite counter tops for a lovely quartz with this rich veining. The island was never fully finished so we added some framing and shiplap and Steph did the painting. By painting areas of your home yourself, you can save yourself a lot of money. It was a fun project for her and her kids to do together too!
Other counter kitchen finds:
Movie Night?
Something I wanted to make sure I incorporated was a candy bar. Movie night and cuddle time on the couch was a weekly, if not daily, ritual for them and I wanted to create something special. I found this little Coffee Cabinet on Amazon
Cute Candies
Sometimes you just want candy that has a bit extra flavor and appeal. The best local places to get candy like these is Meiers Crocery and Jolley’s Corner. They have tons to pick from.
Pictured here are candies from Meiers Grocery:
Chocolate Malt
Sour Green Apple Balls
Gummy Cupcakes
Blueberry & Marshmellow Gummy Rings
New Sink
Along with new counters, new sinks and faucets were also installed. We found all of our gold faucets and hardware on Amazon.
Lighting
Lighting before we started was almost nonexistent. The kitchen, dinning area, and living room felt so dark and the paint color before didn’t help either. We took out the modern looking pendants and the two ceiling fans and added new fixtures that fit her new style with 12 new can lights. Adding can lights to a space can really change the game. I love these soft Amber Glass Pendants as it helped soften the space in the right way. These beautiful lights I was able to find on Amazon.
Use these direct links below. They come in a few colors.
Dinning Area
Luckily Steph had lovely kitchen table and I worked around that pulling everything together. By the way, I was shocked again how perfect these Farmhouse Chairs were. Sturdy and they feel expensive but they are not! Another great Amazon find.
The Green Buffet Cabinet provided more storage and brought more color into the space.
I used Shutterfly to print off these extra large prints and found these Large Matted Frames from Amazon.
The rug is from Ruggable and if you haven’t heard of them, you for sure need to look them up. Washable large area rugs are a must when you have kids.
Here are some direct links to Steph’s dinning room:
Picture Frames (Large & Matted)
Candelabra, remote battery candles, marble tray, plants, and small picture from Target.
Cozy Living Room
With our new paint, wallpaper, and can lighting, you get a better feel for what this room is about. It’s about feeling recharged after a long day. It’s about making memories with your family. It’s about making your home a place that you feel at peace.
Steph needed a new couch. This Black Corduroy Velvet Couch fit just right in the space. it came in 2 very compact boxes and we had no idea if all the pieces were inside but sure enough, it was a full sectional couch! So soft and comfy and the price is ridiculously good for how big it is. I wanted to find something that could be jumped and snuggled on by kids and hold up. So far it’s been a major winner.
Sometimes large prints are tricky to find. Home Goods, Target, and TJ Max have some you can see in person that won’t break the bank. I found this Large Landscape Print online at Amazon.
Also, if you like resting drinks or other items, here are few items that will help you out:
Media & Fireplace Area
It wouldn’t be a cozy home without a fireplace and mantle. Shiplap was installed to accent the wall and I was able to find a fireplace insert and mantle on Wayfair. Did you know they have “open box” deals? Items that somebody opened but never used. You can usually get a pretty big discount.
I also lifted and shifted out the window trimmings to bring in more light and create the illusion of more space.
Thank You!
